Find an Expedition

Whether you are looking for a way to teach fifth graders about South Florida's natural systems in an afternoon or planning an in-depth course for graduate student researchers, Field School is able to provide lecturers and organize logistics to make your field research and education plans possible.

Week-long Expeditions

These trips are designed for schools interested in immersing their students in the ecology and biology of South Florida's marine and freshwater systems. These trips take an "ecosystem-down" approach, guiding students through how these systems interact and the role of organisms within them. A week-long trip can be tailored to meet student goals--whether they are studying food webs, ecological restoration, field techniques or tropical marine biology, lectures and field work will integrate these topics and more.

Field School is also available to provide logistics and staff support for professors leading trips for their universities, acting as specialist lecturers on select topics and ensuring that travel, research and accommodation logistics run smoothly.

Day/Weekend Trips

Designed for schools or students who have a limited amount of time to spend with us in the field, these trips are highly customizable to requirements and can be combined to create two- and three-day adventures.

Students can learn to identify Caribbean corals and become familiar with the threats they face, or can explore the seagrass meadows of Biscayne Bay--South Florida contains nearly 10% of global seagrass habitat!

Field School staff are available to help with the process of school district approval by providing information and detailed itineraries as needed.
