Marine Science Expedition
From $100/student

Students start the day snorkeling through a beautiful marine ecosystem along with several safety divers/kayaks and naturalist/scientific guides where they help us deploy a BRUV (baited remote underwater video) rig to help us study what species are utilizing the area and how they are interacting.. Afterward, they help with an ongoing research project sampling local fish and small shark populations. Students are able to help take samples and measurements throughout the process.

This trip is appropriate for students age 13+ who have some experience in the water. While we can accommodate groups with little to no swimming experience, the course is slightly different and spends more time focusing on teaching basic snorkeling skills. This trip can be offered in greater depth or in conjunction with another day trip as a two-day weekend expedition.
Coral Reef Expedition
From $60/student

This expedition gets students up close with one of the most fascinating tropical marine ecosystems: coral reefs. During this day trip, students will get the chance to learn about the biology and ecology of coral reefs, as well as how to identify some common species of coral. The trip also includes a morning of snorkeling on one of South Florida's beautiful reefs, with multiple trained Field School staff in the water as safety divers. Students will be trained to look for signs of coral bleaching as part of the NOAA project BleachWatch, as well as to identify and record many of the marine organisms they might sight on the reef.
